16 Years of Frustration: The Sacramento Kings' Playoff Drought Timeline

May 5th 2006, the Sacramento Kings just lost their 4th and final game to the San Antonio Spurs in the 2006 NBA Playoffs. With their team already in the decline trading away their aging All Star Chris Webber the season before, moving on with a new coach, and dealing with a Aging Core. The Sacramento Kings would’ve thought this was a simple bump in the road to fix over a span of a few years. However, after losing in that year's NBA playoffs would start the longest streak of not making the NBA Playoffs for the Kings being 16 years and having many on top of MANY blunders towards that route. I think it’s time to finally go back in time and talk about the longest streak of never making the playoffs in NBA History and seeing just how this happened. The Sacramento Kings are sitting comfortably with a top 3 seed in this year's standings and completed one of the best 1 season turnarounds in NBA History through the Coaching of Mike Brown and a very key trade that came as controversial. But up until that point, the Kings struggled to even win 30 games in a season. 13 coaches in 16 years, only 3 all-stars up until this point, 17 First Round Picks, and so much more to go through. From the Downfall of the Duo of Demarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans, the failed rebuild efforts of Vlade Divac, the many failed draft picks, the drafting of De'Arron Fox, the weird hiring of Luke Walton, and most importantly the weirdest trade at the time for Tyrese Haliburton and Domantas Sabonis.
