Canada: Federal government announces renewed support for Indigenous health care in B.C. – April 14, 2023

In Vancouver, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces the renewal of the 10-year funding agreement with the First Nations Health Council (FHNA) in British Columbia with the aim of delivering improved health care for Indigenous communities in the province. He is joined by federal Indigenous Services Minister Patty Hajdu, Richard Jock and Colleen Erickson of the First Nations Health Authority as well as Wade Grant and Wenecwtsin (Wayne Christian) of the First Nations Health Council. As part of the renewed agreement, $8.2 billion will be provided to the FHNA as it continues its work of supporting Indigenous-led health care in British Columbia. Following the announcement, the prime minister participates in a question-and-answer period with community members.
