IN YOU I LIVE- WE CELEBRATE LIFE, NOT DEATH
As Christians and believers in Jesus Christ, it's time that we check our confession to see if it matches our theology. Among the many foundational stones, we as believers stand on is that Christ has given us life and that abundantly.
Our most quoted scripture is John 3:16. "for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Yet despite the continual preaching about life, much of the church is consumed with the subject of death; why is that?
Somewhere in the 2000 years of our theological journey that we've been on, many of the benefits of our conversion to Christ have been pushed off until we die.
I have been preaching and practicing for nearly seven decades the power of laying hands on the sick and seeing them recover. Oddly enough, my greatest resistance to that benefit of the cross has come from the church. Some say I'll be healed when I die and go to heaven because there's no sickness in heaven.
Because of that mentality, many things are put off until we die. We'll be at peace; there will be no more pain. I'll finally be happy. How is it that death has become our Savior and Redeemer instead of Jesus Christ?
Everlasting life is promised to us, not at death but at our conversion. The benefit of eternal life includes so many powerful and beautiful things on this side of the veil that we need to claim today.
I love the statement in third John two; beloved, I wish above all things that they'll prosper and be in health even as their soul prospers.
Now that sounds like life to me.
When Christ rose from the dead, the power and sting of death were conquered and put away. Death no longer has rule over us.
According to Matthew four, when Jesus came, "the people lived in the fear of death all their lives." Thank God through the cross and resurrection, Jesus Christ conquered the fear of death and settled the issue once and for all.
I encourage you to enjoy all the benefits of eternal life on this side of the veil.
Please don't put off those things that belong to you today; enjoy your eternal life to its fullest.
