House Republicans have introduced two pieces of legislation, the "Accountability for Lawless Violence In Our Neighborhoods Act" (ALVIN Act) and the "No Federal Funds for Political Prosecutions Act," in response to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's pursuit of the case that led to former President Donald Trump's indictment. The ALVIN Act aims to halt federal funds to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and demand repayment of funds granted after January 1, 2022, while the second act aims to prevent state or local law enforcement agencies from using certain funds to investigate or prosecute political figures, especially when lawlessness is rampant in major American cities.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan accuses Bragg of "pro-crime, anti-victim policies" and of abusing his power by indicting former President Trump. The Republican-led Judiciary Committee plans to hold a field hearing in New York City on April 17 to examine the impact of Bragg's policies on the area and the spike in violent crime. House Republicans argue that Bragg's focus on indicting Trump is distracting him from addressing soaring crime rates in New York City.
