A Florida man has been arrested after he reportedly filed a false complaint claiming he had been abused by officers during a traffic stop.

Suspect Breion Brown was taken into custody by deputies with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and was charged with Making a False Official Statement.

Brown was arrested after he filed an administrative complaint accusing an officer of using excessive force and conducting an illegal search during a traffic stop taking place in Jacksonville, in the US State of Florida on 5th April.

Brown claimed the officer choked him with his vehicle's seat belt, but body camera footage showed his allegations were false.

The Sheriff's Office initiated an Internal Affairs investigation, and detectives from the Integrity and Special Investigations Unit reviewed the evidence.

They found no criminal or policy violations by the officer, leading to Brown's arrest.

He now faces criminal prosecution by the State Attorney's Office.

Sheriff T.K. Waters emphasised the importance of holding individuals accountable for false complaints, stating that victimising officers to push an agenda will not be tolerated.

He reaffirmed the department's commitment to maintaining community trust and serving with integrity, transparency, and respect.
