The Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) is a political movement in Pakistan that advocates for the rights of the Pashtun ethnic group, who are the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan and the second-largest in Pakistan. The movement was formed in 2018 in response to what its members perceive as widespread discrimination and human rights abuses against Pashtuns by the Pakistani government and military.

One of the key issues that PTM has been protesting against is the military operations carried out by the Pakistani army in the tribal areas of North and South Waziristan, which are predominantly Pashtun regions. The military operations were launched in 2009 as part of Pakistan's counter-terrorism efforts against militant groups such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

PTM has criticized these operations, alleging that they have resulted in the displacement of thousands of Pashtuns from their homes, extrajudicial killings, disappearances, and other human rights abuses. The movement has also accused the military of indiscriminate use of force, including bombing civilian areas and conducting operations without proper oversight and accountability.

PTM has called for an end to the military operations and for the Pakistani government to address the root causes of terrorism, such as poverty, unemployment, and lack of access to education and healthcare. The movement has also demanded that the government investigate and prosecute those responsible for human rights abuses and provide compensation and rehabilitation to the victims of the operations.
