Vogue's May issue is dedicated to Anna Wintour’s tribute to Karl Lagerfeld. This is ahead of the Costume Institute's show/gala devoted the Lagerfeld theme. There are many people online complaining that Karl Lagerfeld was a snob and hated women, especially women larger than 2 inches. It's true, Lagerfeld said all that in numerous interviews. He was an outspoken hater and snob. He believed Americans were unfashionable and gauche. Personally, I think he did mellow in his last years. Being a father to Choupette, his beloved cat, definitely helped his image. Vogue commissioned several designers to "interpret Lagerfeld's fashion archives with new looks." I must say that most of the new designs ATE. These designers are so great that people are wondering why Chanel didn't hire them. Vogue did a cover featuring "ten models Lagerfeld loved most", including Anok Yai and Shalom Harlow as well as Kendall Jenner, Kendall Jenner and Liu Wen. Karl loved Kendall? Really? Although she walked on some Chanel runways, I doubt that she was his favorite. The magazine brought Choupette to the editorial, which is amazing! Naomi Campbell was able to take a photo with Karl's cat, which I believe is now with Lagerfeld's senior staff. Wintour's letter can be read here. It was touching to hear her words about Lagerfeld. I also appreciate the fact that she did not want to pay a solemn or sad tribute. She wanted to celebrate his fashion legacy and be happy. Vogue also posted a lot on Instagram. They put a lot into it and it's really cool.
