In this video, I continue to discuss the recent New York Times hit piece on Bitcoin mining, as well as the role that renewables, hydrocarbons, and nuclear power generation play in electrical grids.

I also argue that it's unfair to single out certain industries that use the same electricity that everyone else is using.

Bitcoin mining can help to incentivize building out an electrical grid that is ready for peak demand, while monetizing some of that electricity production when no one else needs it. Bitcoin miners are much more flexible in this way than are data centers or other heavy users of electricity.

Electrical grids cannot be run exclusively using solar and wind production sources. You need either really good batteries (which we are years away from having), or you need to use something like natural gas or nuclear which is a non-intermittent source.
