Smoking and intoxicants are prohibited as they are harmful to the body and mind, and they lead to addiction and other negative consequences. Islam promotes physical, mental, and spiritual health, and anything that harms any of these aspects is considered prohibited.

Here are some references from the Quran and Hadith regarding the prohibition of smoking and intoxicants:

- “O believers! Intoxicants, gambling, idols, and drawing lots for decisions1 are all evil of Satan’s handiwork. So shun them so you may be successful”.
- “Satan’s plan is to stir up hostility and hatred between you with intoxicants and gambling and to prevent you from remembering Allah and praying. Will you not then abstain?”
(Surah Al-Ma'idah Verse 90-91)

- "Anything that intoxicates in a large quantity, then a small quantity of it is haram."
(Sunan Abu Dawud 3681)

Individuals who engage in these activities may face consequences in the afterlife, as these actions are considered sins.

It is important to note that Islam encourages forgiveness and repentance, and individuals who have engaged in smoking and intoxicants can seek forgiveness and make efforts to quit these habits.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "Allah forgives my ummah for the mistakes they make due to forgetfulness or because of what they are forced to do." (Sunan Ibn Majah 2045)
