SAN ANGELO, TX — The 9th Performance was Military Appreciation during the 91st Annual San Angelo Rodeo. During the main event, like our nation's heroes, the bull riders fought valiantly.

Brody Yearly posted an 81.0 on the back of “Untamed.” The youth pastor conquered the bull that had never been defeated. During the last ride of the night, the crowd erupted when the cowboy from Okeechobee, Florida, Ernie Courson, took “Cool Stylin’” the full eight seconds to score an 85.0. He then celebrated his successful ride with a backflip from the stands.

Everyone felt pride for the U.S.A. when the San Angelo Ambassadors performed a special routine for our nation’s armed forces. The Cowgirls filled the arena with cheers and applause before another fellow cowgirl lit the arena on fire in the Barrel Racing.

Dona Kay Rule laid down a near-perfect run when she and her appropriately named horse, Valor, ran a 14.13. The second fastest time in the rodeo had the defending San Angelo Rodeo champion sitting pretty moving into the finals.

San Angelo LIVE!’s Matt Trammell tracked down Dona Kay and asked her what she thought of her chances to win it all. It’s the Barrel Racing, presented by San Angelo’s Cardiovascular Center of Excellence.
