Amber Lavigne's lawsuit against the Great Salt Bay Community School in Damariscotta could set the stage for a court ruling with big implications for gender identity policies in public schools across the country.

In December, Lavigne discovered that public school counselors were secretly providing her 13-year-old daughter with a chest binder, and referring to her using male pronouns.
