ARRIVING @ Black Butte Summit & ABSOLUTELY EPIC Cupola Lookout of 9 Mountains! | 4K | Central Oregon

This was a day-hike in Central Oregon, Deschutes National Forest, starting at the LOWER Historical Black Butte Trailhead (9.8 miles, 3400 FT Elevation Gain) as opposed to the more popular and shorter UPPER Black Butte Trailhead (3.8 miles, 1600 FT Elevation Gain), hiking to the large expansive Summit Zone of Black Butte with a particular emphasis on the world class Cupola Viewpoint where you can stand in one spot and see 9 panoramic mountains! The temperature was classic late Spring weather, low of 42, high of 72. This was hiked on 6/7/2022, and there were NO Mosquitoes. As far as road conditions, one of the advantages of doing the LOWER trailhead instead of the UPPER trailhead is a much less bumpy sketchy road. For the LOWER, it's highway and then a very short and UNMARKED red forest road to the turnabout parking lot, relatively smooth and easy and safe, one of the distinct benefits of hiking from the LOWER trailhead (the UPPER trailhead has a very bumpy potholed rutted forest road to traverse). In my opinion, the road most definitely DOES NOT require 4-Wheel Drive, however do watch for road conditions, particularly snow/ice depending on the time of year.
