White House declares fentanyl laced with animal sedative an “emerging threat”

The Biden administration has declared fentanyl laced with xylazine, an animal tranquilizer typically used for horses, an ‘emerging threat’ in the United States. Dr. Rahul Gupta, director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, says xylazine, also known as tranq, has been found in almost all 50 states and is linked to the rapidly increasing number of opioid overdoses. This is the first time in American history a substance has been declared an ‘emerging threat’.
