The head of Russia's infamous Wagner mercenary
group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has long been wanting to
take the political plunge. In 2020, the Wagner
mercenary boss reportedly even considered running
for office himself. However, unlike earlier plans to
launch his own political party, the Wagner boss now is
eyeing control of a major branch of an existing party.
Kremlin sources told Meduza, a Russia media outlet,
that Prigozhin is "interested" in A Just Russia's St
Petersburg branch. However, Some experts are
sceptical about the Kremlin allowing Prigozhin to take
control of a party that has seats in parliament.
