Victorians used arsenic in bizarre ways.

In the Victorian era, people believed small doses of arsenic to be safe. They used it in their facial powder, lotions, dresses, toys, glass, medicines, and even wallpaper. Arsenic was cheap thanks to the industrial revolution. Keep in mind, though, the Victorians knew it was poisonous. It was the most widely used poison for murd3r, after all. It wasn’t until the mysterious illnesses and deaths of people that it was connected to arsenic. In 1851, the Sale of Arsenic Regulation Act was passed into law. It wasn’t a complete ban but did minimize risks associated with the poison.
