WeightWatchers Stock Soared 60% due to Obesity Telehealth Drug Deal

Sequence is a subscription service that offers telehealth visits with doctors that can prescribe weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy. It is essentially a virtual clinic that you pay $100 a month for which is a pretty good deal I guess. However, the issue with these drugs are that they are very expensive, but you also gain most of the weight back within the first year you stop taking them. Maybe that is the point of the deal, the customers are hooked on these drugs if they want to stay thin. Maybe I’m just being cynical, what do you think? Novo Nordisk makes both Wegovy and Ozempic. They reported obesity care sales grew over 100% in the last financial quarter.
WeightWatchers was up 60% on the news at over $6.50 a share. However, the stock was $105 a share in 2018.
