Police Officer Nickolas Wilt, 26, received emergency brain surgery at the University of Louisville Hospital after a gunman shot him in the head at Old National Bank on Monday. Wilt graduated from the police academy 10 days prior and was one of the first officers to respond to the mass shooting. In an interview Tuesday, Louisville Metro Police Interim Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said Wilt’s condition is more stable but still listed as critical at this time.
