Perfect performance comes from programming your mind ahead of time with the images, sounds and feelings of the performance you want give when you go to compete.
If you leave performance up to chance by not doing the desired mental visualisation work beforehand, then you are leaving yourself open to your performance being haphazard, disjointed and inconsistent.
