Airing Grievances - Thoughts on Alice Asylum Cancellation

All seemed right with the world. For a time we were getting one announcement after another of classic Survival Horror games finally receiving their overdue remakes. Then from seemingly out of nowhere, American McGee not only announced that a third game in his Wonderland series was in development, but that it would be crowdfunded. He had amassed a creative team, and had even crafted a 414 page design bible to entice supporters to back his cause. The fanbase had rejoiced and celebrated this news of a final chapter in the Alice franchise to complete the trilogy. Then calamity struck. Just as quickly as the news had spread, another story took its place. Electronic Arts, owner of the Alice license, rejected the campaign and would not move forward with the project. I wanted to take the time to discuss my impression on this tragic news and vent my misgivings over this turn of events. I hope I can gain some measure of closure and help others as well.
