Kyle Busch's responsibilities as a Joe Gibbs Racing driver and 15-year career at the organization where he won a pair of Cup titles officially ended on Thursday night at the NASCAR Awards banquet in Nashville. He didn't wait long to start the next chapter.

A day later, the 37-year-old began his Richard Childress Racing career on a promising note, putting his car on the pole at the World Racing League event held at Circuit of the Americas. Unfortunately, on Saturday, the car encountered mechanical issues and cut the day short.

Following the abbreviated run, the future Hall of Famer visited exclusively with After the Checkered Flag, talking about his first business trip working with his new team, why running laps at COTA will help him when NASCAR returns to the road course in a few months, and how he plans to elevate RCR in the years to come.
