The 2001 Daytona 500 is one of the most shocking moments in NASCAR and sports history. Losing the sport's biggest star on the biggest stage is unthinkable. The unthinkable happened.

While fans still feel the pain of Earnhardt's death, as the case is when someone close to you dies, it diminishes over time. Time heals, as they say.

Incredibly and tragically, it hasn't for Sterling Marlin. Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently revealed as much on his podcast after he talked with the 65-year-old, who largely avoided the topic of the 2001 race during his guest appearance, but his associates who joined him in the studio shockingly divulged that the former driver watches the final laps from the tragic day on a regular basis.
