1964 Corvette C2 Restomod Custom Paint and Suspension Upgrades at V8 Speed and Resto Shop V8TV

We’re completing some upgrades and restoration tasks on this cool 1964 Chevrolet Corvette C2 restomod in the V8 Speed and Resto Shop. The list included adding a Holley Sniper EFI system to the Edelbrock crate 350 V8 and some dashboard electrical rewiring. The V8 Team also upgraded the suspension using a full set of Global West tubular control arms, trailing arms, and sway bars. The Corvette will roll on Rocket Racing wheels, but the biggest change is the new custom paint with an asymmetrical stripe design! We thought we’d share an update as we build the car in our latest “What are you in for” video series where we share in-process projects from around the shop!

This 1964 Corvette restomod has not been in its original state for a long time. In fact, the car was originally blue with a blue interior. Our customer purchased the car painted white with red insides, and the original Chevy small block was long gone. In its place is an Edelbrock 350 crate engine now topped with a Holley Sniper EFI system for more precise fuel control. Because of these changes, the owner felt it was cool to build the car the way he wanted.

The V8 Speed & Resto Shop team ditched the original suspension in favor of some upgraded C2 Corvette tubular front upper and lower control arms from Global West, along with their matching tuned sway bar. Billstein shock absorbers dampen the springs and make for a smoother ride. The rear suspension is also from Global West.

The owner supplied our body and paint team with some cool C2 Corvette design sketches, and the V8 crew took it from there. After bodywork was completed, the restomod Corvette was shot in a new application of classic Ermine White. But this time, the ‘64 Corvette was treated to an asymmetric stripe custom paint design featuring a dark red and charcoal color scheme. We think the design looks great on the car, and will really command attention.
