1964 Ford Falcon Futura Restomod Suspension and Steering Upgrades Preview at V8 Speed and Resto Shop

This clean 1964 Ford Falcon Futura came to the V8 Speed and Resto Shop looking for some performance upgrades, and we will be installing new front suspension components from Global West and QA1 Motorsports, a Borgeson steering gear, a Flaming River tilt steering column, and more in phase one.

The Ford Falcon is powered by a 289 V8 engine, although it came new with a 6 cylinder. The current 289 was installed years ago, and the owner is now thinking about adding some power with a Ford 347 stroker V8.

The original front suspension was great for the basic 6 cylinder economy car, but the owner wanted improved handling and road feel. The Borgeson integrated power steering box is a great way to deliver a better driving experience, both in the sense that it is power assisted, but it also has just the right amount of assist and the steering gear ratio makes the car steer more like a modern car than a 1960s ride. The Global West tubular suspension system not only adds strenth, but also improves the geometry, adding caster and a negative camber gain for better traction and tire wear. QA1 shocks and springs provide increased adjustability over original coil springs.
