THE LARGEST DAM IN THE WORLD HISTORY

The largest dam in the world, both by volume and by structural volume, is the Three Gorges Dam in China. It is located on the Yangtze River and was completed in 2012. The dam is 2.3 kilometers (1.4 miles) long, 185 meters (607 feet) high, and has a structural volume of 39.3 million cubic meters (51.4 million cubic yards).

The Three Gorges Dam is also the world's largest hydroelectric power station, with a total generating capacity of 22,500 megawatts.
