John Kirby: WSJ reporter detained in Russia is “a journalist, not a criminal”

At a White House press briefing Monday, National Security Council Spokesman John Kirby said the U.S. has been working with Russian officials to release detained Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich. “He doesn’t belong there, he needs to be released. He’s a journalist, not a criminal,” said Kirby.
