As Beijing’s military holds a three-day drill in the Taiwan Strait, that began on April 8, 2023, residents of the Matsu Islands that are located within sight of mainland China are voicing their opposition and concerns over a potential war. Across the strait, however, mainland Chinese residents say they are happy that Beijing is showcasing its military strength.
