Former NCAA swimmer, Riley Gaines became the face for women's swimming when she tied transgender swimmer Lia Thomas in the women's 200-meter freestyle at the 2022 NCAA swimming and diving championships. Since then, she's become vocal about her opposition to the inclusion of trans women in women's swimming.

At an event last Thursday at San Francisco State University, Gaines says she was assaulted after giving a speech "Save Women's Sports". Gaines was brought in to speak by the campus chapter of Turning Point USA. Gaines says following her speech, she was ambushed by angry transactivists, being physically assaulted.
