JULY 29, 1998 Supreme Court Justice Speech In his speech to black attorneys, U.S Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas answered criticisms of some of his Supreme Court decisions by asserting his right to think for himself. He said he has no intention of changing his conservative views and his opposition to affirmative action. He did not take questions from the audience.
