Christians reenact crucifixion for Good Friday
Christians in Lebanon have decided to perform a rather literal performance of the Stations of the Cross to celebrate Good Friday, complete with whipping and crucifixion. Antony Daibes decided that he wanted to walk, bleed and be placed on a cross in order to ‘live his pain again, and to embody it, so that I can feel how he was tortured for our sake.’ Gabriel Tannous, another devotee, said that ‘this march… is not for the sake of acting. We are doing this to bring people closer to Jesus Christ.’
Let’s hope that, like Christ, they had recovered by Sunday.
