This happened on the second day of an exercise that Chinese troops are conducting near the island nation. Seventy planes and 11 Chinese army ships were spotted near the island.
The animated video, which the Chinese army posted on WeChat, shows the PRC using missile launchers deployed on land and at sea to strike targets in Taiwan from several directions.

Zhao Xiaozhchuo, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences, noted that "key targets" include military installations on the island: in particular, these could include key troop positions, airfields, and important nodes of the military system.
