Diving for Easter eggs off the Florida coast

A scuba “Easter Bunny” hid real hard-boiled eggs in the waters of Key Largo, Florida, on Sunday (April 9) for divers and snorkelers to find in a fun Easter egg hunt.

The hunt took place in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, one of the largest marine protected areas in the United States.

The Underwater Easter Egg Hunt yearly to raise money for needy children, and the hunt also raises awareness about marine conservation in the area.

The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary covers 3,800 square miles of waters around the Florida Keys.

The sanctuary contains the Florida Reef, which is the only barrier coral reef in North America and the third-largest coral barrier reef in the world, as well as extensive mangrove forest and seagrass fields.
