Along with the other connections to Easter is the Irish Rebellion of 1916. While this uprising failed, it paved the way for a (mostly) independent Ireland soon after.

I have written this song for a Jewish worker, Abraham Weeks, and member of the Irish Citizens Army (ICA) who died evacuating from the General Post Office at the end of the week-long rebellion:
