Beautiful Pantai Pandawa Beach in Bali

Did you know that Pandawa Beach is named after the five knights of ancient Hindu legends? This beautiful Bali beach was once known by just a few and referred to as a "secret beach". Pandawa Beach is no longer the secret it once was but is is still a Bali beach that you would like to visit? Watch on to find out.

In 2004 an access road was built down from the tall cliffs above Pandawa beach and development began along this beautiful stretch of the Bali coast.

Although Pandawa beach is only 17km from Bali airport, the narrow road and traffic means it takes 55 mins to get from the airport to the beach.

For foreigners visiting Bali it costs 30,000 per person to enter Pandawa Beach.

There is a long row for shops and cafes just beside Pandawa beach, and then a row of sun brollies lines the beachfront available for rent.

Canoes, surf boards and stand up paddle boards are all also available to rent along Pandawa beach and for a special view paragliding is available from the cliffs above the beach.

Pandawa Beach is a long sandy beach with quite good swimming in several spots along the beachfront, it has however gone from being one of Balis secret beaches to a very popular beach and can therefore get busy, and unfortunately because of its new found fame it is not always the cleanest of beaches in Bali.

Unlike most of the beaches near Uluwatu you won't see many surfers at Pandawa. There are a couple of reasons for this, firstly the busy beach and crowds of swimmers can make it awkward for surfers, and secondly paddling out to the surf along Pandawa Beach is against a strong current making it suitable for advanced surfers only.

Overall Pandawa is a pleasant if rather busy Bali beach, the water is quite shallow close to shore making it great for a quick dip. What I personally am not so keen on is the fact that all the sunbeds are packed closely together, crowds spill out of buses on a daily basis and its all a bit commercialised for my liking.
