IBD didn’t exist until 1859, this coincides with the introduction of artificial fats into our societies. Both the incidence rate of IBD and the consumption of artificial fats have simultaneously increased since then. Correlation does not equal causation but when correlation is present it is worth investigating and that is how I’ve managed to find most of this information. It turns out artificial fats destroy our mucus layer and when I eliminated all artificial fats from my diet my disease started to slowly disappear. Initially it is hard to avoid everything with artificial fats specially when you are used to routinely eating foods that contain them, but it is way easier than dealing with the negative symptoms that are part of this disease. The effort is truly rewarded a hundredfold.

Here are some supplements that are very helpful for IBD:

1. Probiotics: Help restore microbiome after damaging our natural microbiome with anti-biotics and after chronic diarrhea.
2. Highly Fermentable Fructo-Oligosaccharides (FOS): Have been shown to suppress H2S production even in situations with excessive H2S. As a result of this they also reduce inflammation.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar: Increases stomach acidity, kills pathogenic bacteria and fungi, increases insulin sensitivity, increases metabolism, helps us digest fats and meats more efficiently, etc.
4. Cod Liver Oil: Has been proven to reduce inflammation in people who have IBD and also contains multiple vitamins.

IBD is not something you can get rid of because it’s not like an infection, it’s more like being poisoned. If you continue to eat the poison you will continue to experience the symptoms. You will always be prone to destroying your mucus layer if you decide to indulge with artificial fats. To truly be rid of this disease it is important to understand that this requires a lifestyle choice that will not be easy at first.
