2 Vehicle Accident, 6 Kids Flown (ages 6 months to 6 years), WEST TEMPE, April 8, 2023 - At approximately 12:48 pm on April 8, 2023, a white 1999 Ford F-550 (pulling a trailer loaded with timber), driven by Arlo Dumas, 50, of Point Blank, was west-bound on US-190 West. Dumas suddenly impacted a navy blue 2023 Toyota Highlander driven by Brittany Bryant, 42, of Livingston. Bryant was east-bound and attempted a left turn onto Walding Road directly in front of Dumas. Dumas' pickup struck the back end passenger's side of Bryant's vehicle. The impact caused Bryant to spin around (about 360 degrees) and come to rest in the grass of the left side of Walden Road entrance. Dumas pulled to the shoulder. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, an Officer with Livingston Police Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Kevin Burman and Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol. There were six kids in Bryant's vehicle (some weren't in child car seats). All six kids (ages 6 months to 6 years of age) were flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston. Two medical helicopters landed on 190 West, others landed at Livingston Municipal Airport. Bryant and another passenger (adult female) were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. All traffic on 190 was blocked during investigation, flight operations, and cleanup. Bryant was cited for failing to yield and for unrestrained children. Dumas was cited for expired vehicle registration. Dumas' vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing while Bryant's vehicle was recovered by Harwood Wrecker Service.
