BEFORE ‘Thrift Shop’ & ‘Can’t Hold Us’ soared up the Billboard charts both to the number one spot.
BEFORE the pair were the first Seattle based artists to reach the number one spot since Sir–Mix-a-Lot in 1992 with ‘Baby Got Back’
BEFORE Macklemore’s personal style resulted in a spike in sales for Thrift Stores around the world.

The polished and polite Macklemore we know today is a far cry from the boy he was in his early teens, he drank alcohol for the first time by himself while listening to 2Pac's "All Eyez On Me" he began smoking weed two years earlier and made money as a drug dealer, hewould be fired from every real job he ever had. Not interested in school he would cheat is way through class but couldn’t pull it off on the SAT’s and was left without limited options that required higher learning. In truth all the man wanted to do was music,initially under the name Professor Macklemore, but the young man would have to battle his own demons of addiction to alcohol and drugs before he would make any true headway. He also had made a few new friends over My Space, an artist and producer by the name of Ryan Lewis and a girl named Tricia Davis who he would go on to marry.
