SAN ANGELO, TX — It seemed like everyone in the 6th Performance on Friday night during the 91st Annual San Angelo Rodeo received second chances where life went their way. From Team Roping to the Saddle Bronc Riding, the Cowboys took advantage of re-rides to improve their scores.

In the Team Roping, Tyler Magnus and Max Kuttler received a second shot at a qualifying time after someone released their steer too early. When it was the Cowboys' turn to try again, they laid down a blazing time of 4.3 seconds to sneak into the Top 12 in the average.

Earlier in the 6th Performance, Sage Newman, the number one ranked Saddle Bronc Rider in the world, took his turn on the Bronco, “Quality Unhidden.” However, the Bronc didn’t feel like cooperating, and Newman received a re-ride. His turn came again just before the Bull Riding. Newman jumped in the saddle and posted an 84.5 to leap into 3rd place overall in the Rodeo.

One Cowboy who hopes this second chance luck from tonight rolls over into tomorrow night is Montana Cowboy Ty Erickson. During his first-round attempt, he took off on his horse, ran down his steer, and flattened the little bovine in 3.9 seconds. His run put him in the Top 10 at 7th in the first round.

San Angelo LIVE!’s Matt Trammell met up with Erickson after his run to ask how he feels about his second chance on Saturday. It’s Steer Wrestling, presented by the Clarion Hotel.
