Experts say there are at least 2,000 serial killers free roaming the United States. The U.S. is home to notorious serial killers like Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dahmer and many more. But there are other chilling serial killers found around the world. Here are six terrifying international serial killers from Europe to South America.

The most prolific modern serial killer is arguably Dr. Harold Shipman, with 218 probable murders and possibly as many as 250 (see "Medical professionals", below). However, he was actually convicted of a sample of 15 murders.
