Three Key Points of chp 20

1) The Resurrection of Jesus: John chapter 20 begins with the discovery of the empty tomb by Mary Magdalene. She informs Peter and John, who race to the tomb and confirm that Jesus' body is indeed missing. Later, Jesus appears to Mary and then to his disciples, demonstrating that he has risen from the dead.

2) The Commissioning of the Disciples: After appearing to his disciples, Jesus commissions them to continue his work on earth. He breathes on them and says, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone's sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." This commissioning sets the stage for the beginning of the Christian church.

3) The Doubt of Thomas: One of the disciples, Thomas, is not present when Jesus appears to the others. When they tell him what has happened, he refuses to believe unless he sees Jesus for himself. A week later, Jesus appears to Thomas and invites him to touch his wounds. Thomas proclaims, "My Lord and my God!" This interaction shows the importance of faith and belief in Jesus as the Son of God.
