Uncovering the Mystery of Jesus' Holy Saturday: What Happened in the Underworld?

Holy Saturday follows Good Friday. As Jesus' earthly body was placed into the tomb at 6 PM on Good Friday, His spirit went to the underworld - Sheol. We have some clues from scripture of what Jesus did and where He went between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. Luke 16, the Rich Man and Lazarus parable, paints a picture of Sheol's appearance and cosmological layout. Who were the prisoners that Jesus preached to? Why were there angels in chains in the abyss?
