The second half of our relaxing night "inside" and what docking the boat looks like from Phillips POV. Living in the marina during the summer has given us a front seat view to the many ways a boat can be docked. There's the "Fight it out Friday night", "Screaming match Saturday", and "Silent treatment Sunday". There's also "Mundane Monday", "Talk it out Tuesday" and "We do this all the time Wednesday". When Phillip and I first started out with Kalamazoo we would debrief after EVERY docking experience. We would talk about what went well, what needed some improvement and what we totally bombed. We would discuss how the weather had an impact and what we might have done if the weather had been slightly different.

Suffice to say, we have put a lot of time and patience into keeping this action as stress free as possible. We each have a specific role and set of actions. We have open communication and Phillip endlessly humors my comments of "I know you can see that so and so are backing out of their slip, but for my peace of mind I need to tell you...". Or, "I think you might need to turn a bit early because the wind is out of the north today......... Nevermind, it died so I'm glad you didn't turn when I said to.". The man could dock Kalamazoo in his sleep. Does that mean docking is always easy peasy and stress free? NOPE! But it really helps!
