Assembly of First Nations National Chief RoseAnne Archibald delivers remarks in Ottawa as the AFN's four-day Special Chiefs Assembly concludes. From April 3 to 4, delegates discussed remaining resolutions from the previous special chiefs gathering. Delegates also endorsed a $23-billion revised settlement agreement to compensate First Nations children and their families harmed by the federal government's underfunding of the on-reserve child welfare system. Debate on the government's draft action plan to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples was on the agenda from April 5 to 6.
