20230406 Breaking Cycles and Being a Proud Ol' Daddy

Through a 10 year series of (mis)adventures I ended up back in my hometown, and kid 1 is now attending my former high school.

Last month on parent teacher night I returned to my stomping grounds from the early 80s. Not much changed.

One of the things that didn't change was my grade 12 homeroom where I met with one of his teachers, and the conversation I had with her was, I suspect, very much akin to the ones my parents had with my teachers 40 years ago.

The young man they were describing was kinda me, of my teenaged years. I can see so much of me in the boy, and I want to help him break the cycles of my mistakes, and maybe have a fuller school, and life, experience for it.

I'm very happy to report that, at least in one respect, I've been successful.
