"One of the stars of the hot new movie Hoosiers has deep basketball roots in Indiana," reported John Drury on Chicago ABC affiliate WLS-TV on March 6, 1987. DePauw University sophomore Steve Hollar portrays Rade, the rebel on a basketball team which is coached by Gene Hackman in the movie. "Tonight (Hollar) was on the courts for real in Chicago, competing with his college team in an NCAA tournament," noted the news anchor.
