The Real Stray Cat That Inspired Stray

Stray is a game that our family loved, but drawing is hard right now because Kotor has hurt his wrists (he works too hard), so our video about an AI world filled with computers mimicking humans is actually drawn by a computer mimicking humans. That seemed fitting.

Stray will probably be our family's game of the year, because our seven-year-old (yes, she's seven now) absolutely loves it. So much, in fact, that nobody else has been allowed to play! The team at BlueTwelve Studio clearly did something right!

In interviews, the team has spoken about how the game's eponymous stray is based on a real cat, Mertaugh, who was adopted by studio heads Viv and Koola after he was discovered under a car.

The weird robot city is also based on a real place: the infamous Walled City of Kowloon in Hong Kong, which was demolished in 1994, but which was genuinely an enclosed, densely populated skyscraper city. It didn't have as many robots as the city in Stray, of course.
