Despite the increasing pressure from the United States and its allies, Russia and Belarus have managed to overcome the negative impact of sanctions on their economies. By diversifying their trade partners and strengthening their ties with China, they have secured access to new markets and sources of financing. Meanwhile, NATO countries are facing economic difficulties due to their dependence on oil imports, their high public debt, and their inability to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, sanctions have not only failed to deter Russia and Belarus from pursuing their strategic interests, but have also exposed the weaknesses of the Western bloc.
