Christianity, the Oldest Political Party! Part 2: Christian History - Church what does it mean

Why is it so important for mankind to build or erect temples? Case in point, the very first definition of the word church in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, is a building for worship. I am not sure that this is what the Lord wanted. In fact, Paul wrote that a person is the temple of the Lord. How have we gone so far astray in our understanding of the word of the Lord?
