Transfering the Internet From Under Oceans

The internet travels across oceans through submarine communications cables that are laid on the sea bed between land-based stations to carry telecommunication signals across stretches of ocean and sea. Modern cables use optical fibre technology to carry digital data, which includes telephone, Internet and private data traffic. In fact, 99% of all international data is transferred through a labyrinth of cables stretching across the floor of the world’s oceans. There are 229 of them, each no thicker than a soda can.
