GENE WILDER - Before They Were Gone - WILLY WONKA

BEFORE Gene Wilder would light up as the true Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory...(sorry, Johnny Depp.)

Gene grew up a shy kid in a Jewish family and realized early on that he had a knack for making others laugh. Growing up in Milwaukee Wisconsin prior to the 1950's there wasn't a ton of outlets for young Gene to live out his passion for performance. At a young age was sent to a Military school in Hollywood but there he was bully and even sexually assaulted for being the only Jewish boy in the school. Eventually he would find his way and by his late twenties he had become the highest paid actor in Hollywood, a heart throb, a Golden Globe, Academy Award Nominee.

He also wasn't a fan on the Willy Wonka remake.. but we will get into that.
