Today we are sampling Speedway Stout Hawaiian Edition Special Release by Alesmith Brewing. This variation was originally created for the popular 3-day Speedway Grand Prix event in our Tasting Room and features coconut added multiple times during the brewing process, Madagascar vanilla beans, and locally roasted Hawaiian coffee. This beer balances the intense rich, fruity flavors of the vanilla and coconut with the roast of the coffee and the chocolate and caramel flavors of our imperial stout.

This beer’s great balance makes it a very food-friendly Imperial Stout. Pair its roasty flavors and robust mouthfeel with rich beef dishes and char-grilled foods. Both chocolate and vanilla desserts also pair well, as do salty blue cheeses like Stilton or hard nutty cheeses like aged Gouda and cloth-bound cheddars.
